How to use the website technology checker

Type a domain or paste a link and press Detect. Real computers on the Globalping network open the page, and the website technology checker reads what comes back: the server's response headers, the cookies it sets, its meta tags, the scripts it loads and the first 10 KB of the page. It then matches those clues against about 2,800 known technologies and tells you what the site is built with, grouped so you can read it at a glance.

What is this website built with?

  • Website builder, CMS or shop platform: WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Drupal, WooCommerce, Magento and many more, with the version when the page shows it.
  • Framework and libraries: Next.js, Nuxt, Gatsby, Astro, Angular, jQuery, Bootstrap and others.
  • Analytics, ads and marketing: Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, Hotjar, AdSense and the rest of the tools that track visitors or show ads.
  • Chat, payments and fonts: Intercom, Tawk.to, Stripe, PayPal, Google Fonts.
  • Where it lives: the CDN, the hosting company and the web server, such as Cloudflare, Vercel, Netlify, Nginx, Apache or LiteSpeed.

Every find comes with its clue, such as "Meta tag generator: WordPress 6.6" or "Header server: nginx", so you can see why the tech stack detector thinks so. Finds from a header, a cookie or a meta tag are certain; finds seen only in the page's code are marked as likely.

A CMS detector that also checks safety

When a page announces its exact CMS version, or loads a jQuery release older than 3.5, the checker warns you: public version numbers help attackers match a site to known holes. If it is your site, keep the software updated and hide the version where you can. The same check fills the other sections too: Security grades the certificate and security headers, and the summary at the top sums up the whole website checker report.

How it compares with BuiltWith and Wappalyzer

Like those services, it identifies technologies from fingerprints. The fingerprint set is the last open-source release of Wappalyzer's, from 2023 and MIT licensed, plus our own rules for newer platforms, and the matching runs in your browser. It sees only the server's answer and the start of the page, so tools that load later through scripts can be missing.

Privacy and limits

The page is opened by test computers, never by your browser, and the test results are public on the Globalping network, so the address is checked without the part after ?. See the privacy page for the details.

Questions

What CMS is this site using if nothing shows up?

Some sites are hand-built, or hide their platform on purpose. A CMS that is not named in the headers or the start of the page cannot be detected.

Can I check a competitor's tech stack?

Yes. Everything it reads is sent to every visitor anyway.

Why does it say likely?

The clue was only in the page's code, such as a file path, which other tools can copy. Header, cookie and meta tag clues are stronger.
