What the tools and the information on PieToolkit can promise, and what they cannot.

General

PieToolkit's tools and pages are offered for general use and general information. We build them with care and test them on real files, but we cannot check every file, every website or every browser in the world. Use the results with your own judgment, and keep your originals.

Tool results

Every conversion, edit and export is best effort. A PDF made from your photos, a WebP made from a PNG or a PDF saved by the editor is produced by well-known open source engines, and in our tests the results match the originals. Still, files vary. A damaged source, an unusual encoding or a feature the engine does not support can give a result that differs from what you expected.

Before you rely on a result, open it and check it. Keep the original file until you are sure. Each tool states its practical limits on its page, and the how it works page explains why very large jobs depend on the memory of your own device.

Website and network checks

The website checker and its related pages report what test computers around the world saw at one moment, plus data from outside services such as Google's Chrome UX Report, public DNS resolvers and domain registries. A result is a snapshot, not a guarantee:

  • A site shown as slow or down may be fine for its own visitors and only blocking test traffic, or the reverse.
  • Response times depend on the test computer's network as much as on the site.
  • Security headers, certificates and DNS records change; a check from yesterday says nothing about today.
  • A health score summarizes what we could measure. It is not a security audit, a legal compliance check or an accessibility audit.

Use the reports as a starting point for your own investigation, and run checks only against sites you are allowed to test.

Calculators, generators and decoded data

Tools that calculate or generate something give you a reasonable starting point, not professional advice:

  • A calculator turns the numbers you enter into an estimate. It is not financial, tax or legal advice. Your real costs, taxes and market differ.
  • The color palette generator reports contrast ratios by the WCAG formula. Whether a design meets a legal accessibility requirement depends on more than those numbers.
  • The JWT decoder shows what a token contains and whether a signature you provide matches. It cannot tell you whether the token should be trusted.
  • Anything generated here works in our tests. Try it in the place you will use it before you rely on it.

Outside services and links

Some tools send requests to outside services, named in the privacy policy, and some pages link to other websites. Those services and sites belong to other people. We do not control what they return, what they publish or how they treat your data, and a link from PieToolkit is not an endorsement.

Advertising

Ads on the site are served by Google AdSense and chosen by Google and its partners. An ad is not a recommendation by PieToolkit, and we are not responsible for a product or site an ad leads to.

Mistakes on this site

We correct errors as soon as we know about them. If a page says something that is wrong, out of date or unclear, tell us through the contact page and we will fix it.

Where this fits

This disclaimer is part of the terms of use, which set out in full what we promise and what we do not.

Your files stay on your device

Every tool runs inside your browser. The files you add are never uploaded, never stored and never seen by anyone at PieToolkit.
